Cape Town, recently crowned the best city in the world by "Time Out" magazine, is ready to welcome jazz lovers, music enthusiasts, and visitors from across the globe as it plays host to the 22nd edition of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) on 25 and 26 April at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTCC). 

Renowned as Africa’s Grandest Gathering, this iconic festival will once again showcase over 30 artists across four spectacular stages - Kippies, Moses Molelekwa, Rosies and Manenberg - transforming the city into the heartbeat of world-class jazz, culture and entertainment. 

As the official host city, Cape Town is rolling out the red carpet for festinos, offering not just an unforgettable musical experience, but also the breathtaking beauty, rich history, and vibrant energy that make it a top global destination.

“Thanks to the exceptional quality of production served up year after year - with festival programmes that include every style and genre of jazz imaginable - the Cape Town International Jazz Festival has helped cement the Mother City’s reputation as one of the great jazz cities of the world.

This year’s programme looks sure to enhance that reputation further, once again striking that wonderful balance between legends of the jazz stage and tomorrow’s stars.

The festival begins with a free concert on April 24 at Greenmarket Square, a beloved tradition that unites Cape Town’s communities on the eve of the main event. Featuring both local and international artists, this electrifying showcase fills the city with music and energy.

As a gesture of gratitude to the people of Cape Town, CTIJF presents this special event with the support of the City of Cape Town, ensuring live music remains accessible to all while setting the stage for an unforgettable festival weekend.

The all-star line-up includes an extraordinary collaboration between global icon Black Coffee and visionary jazz pianist Nduduzo Makhathini. This special project, backed by a full orchestra, blends deep house, spiritual jazz, and classical influences into a genre-defying masterpiece.

With Coffee’s unmatched electronic expertise and Makhathini’s deep-rooted jazz spirituality, this performance promises to be a festival highlight - an awe-inspiring fusion of tradition and innovation. R&B sensation, Ari Lennox, is set to make her highly anticipated CTIJF debut, bringing her signature blend of sultry vocals, soulful melodies, and raw storytelling to the festival stage.

  • Victor Masondo Quartet featuring Thembi Mtshali and Bheki Khoza - a powerhouse collaboration delivering rich, authentic sounds.
  • Lira - South Africa’s beloved songbird, renowned for her smooth vocals and powerful stage presence.
  • Benjamin Jephta featuring Kujenga - a fusion of jazz, hip hop, and African influences, redefining the genre.
  • The Kyle Shepherd Trio - a mesmerising journey into contemporary jazz and Cape cultural sounds.
  • Thandiswa Mazwai - a legendary voice of African music, bringing deep soul and storytelling to the stage.
