Award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats artist Tems recently chatted to Apple Music 1's Ebro Darden about her first studio album, “Born In The Wild”.

During the interview, she confessed to having serious burnout during the making of album.

“We've been working on that music for so long. At some point I was like, ‘Is this going to ever end? Am I going to live in this studio? Am I going to be old .... when this album finally comes out’,” she said.

The star added that she didn’t think she was going to make it out of the studio.

“But here we are and it feels good. Because now I can go back to the studio without feeling some type of dread,” she said.

Tems released “Born In The Wild” in June. It features hits like “Me & U”, “Not an Angel” and the lead single, “Love Me JeJe”.

The award-winning artist, who is on tour in New York, revealed that she has been very surprised at the amount of people that are now receiving her music.

During her previous performance in New York City, Tems performed to just 300 people at the Sounds Of Brazil venue, this time around, she performed at Radio City, a venue that accommodates 5000 people.

“It's just such a special moment. I haven't actually completely taken it in. I'm not even going to lie. I'm still like, ‘What's going on?’ But I just knew it was so special ... I'm learning so much more about myself as we do every show.

“I've been indoors, I've been in the studio, I've just not been outside, so I didn't really know how people were receiving the music.

“Just to see the way they respond, it's crazy ... It's surprising to me, I'm in shock, literally. I think that's the best blessing that anybody can ask for,” she said.
