Phophi Mudau, known for her role in “Skeem Saam”, is devastated by the unexpected death of her husband, Mohale Percy Ratlabala, aged 39.
He died on Saturday, October 12, after collapsing at their family home in Louis Trichardt in Limpopo.
The couple have been together for 18 years and tied the knot in 2015. They have a 10-year-old daughter, Moyahabo.
Ratlabala was the owner of a civil engineering company, V49, which handled huge construction projects with municipalities in Limpopo, Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.
According to reports, he woke up on Saturday morning “as fit as a fiddle” but he suddenly felt dizzy. This led to him collapsing and he then died suddenly.
Mudau, who also featured in “Muvhango”, told “Sunday World” that her husband's death has shocked their loved ones.
“We woke up in the late morning and my husband didn’t show any medical complications,” she said.
“He was as fit as a fiddle and jolly as usual. Suddenly, he became frail and within a short space of time, fell to the floor and that was the end of his life journey.”
The award-winning actress added: “I got the shock of my life because death was the last misfortune I expected. Everything was okay until death struck. It was an untimely death that has left everyone shattered and the void he has left is going to be huge.”
She also told “Zimoja”: “I called an ambulance and when the paramedics arrived, he was gasping for air.”
“He became unconscious and the paramedics tried to resuscitate him, but he was gone, just like that.”
Details of Mudau’s funeral and memorial service are yet to be announced.
