The memorial service of Ukhozi FM presenter and Crown Gospel Music Awards founder Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule will be held on Thursday at the SABC offices in Durban.
Her death was confirmed on Monday by her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, in a statement.
Mbokazi joined Ukhozi FM in 1995 where she was a presenter of the Gospel music program and then she briefly left and then rejoined the station in April 2023 and worked as an on air presenter until her untimely passing.
“Throughout her tenure, Zanele was an integral part of the Ukhozi FM family, spreading love, hope, and inspiration to countless listeners through her uplifting gospel show.
“Her passion for sharing the message of faith and her infectious enthusiasm touched hearts and transformed lives,” said Ukhozi FM business manager, Sbongi Ngcobo.
Meanwhile, the SABC’s acting group executive, Lala Tuku, said the broadcaster will always cherish its partnership with Mbokazi for the Crown Gospel Music Awards.
“They shone a light on a much-loved music genre in the country. Her passion for the development of the music industry commendable,” she said.
“The SABC would like to send heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, the gospel fraternity and fans at large.”
