Durban — Two vehicles, a VW Polo and a Nissan Almera, stolen in Durban recently were recovered following a quick response by a private security company, in separate incidents.
Marshall Security recovered the stolen vehicles in La Lucia and Park Hill last week.
Managing director Tyron Powell said that last Wednesday morning, their Special Operations Team was activated to assist Matrix Tracking with a Nissan Almera that had been reported stolen in the Phoenix area.
“After a brief track and search operation, the stolen vehicle was found abandoned on a property on Edgeley Road in the Park Hill area,” Powell said.
He said Phoenix SAPS arrived on the scene shortly after and transported the stolen vehicle to Phoenix SAPS for further investigation and processing.
Earlier, at approximately 8.43am, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received information about a stolen VW Polo parked at a well-known shopping mall in the La Lucia area.
The company dispatched multiple armed response officers and members of their Special Operations Team to the scene.
“The stolen vehicle, which had been fraudulently purchased in the Sandton area, was located in the parking lot. The driver, who was identified as the fraudster responsible for the purchase, was immediately apprehended and handed over to Durban North SAPS, who arrived on the scene shortly after,” Powell said.
Police have been contacted for both incidents.
