Durban — A house-breaking suspect who had allegedly stripped a vacant house was released on a warning because the house was already stripped and damaged from previous house break-ins.
Marshall Security director Tyron Powell said that their officers responded to a house break-in at a vacant house in Durban North on Wednesday.
Powell said that at approximately 2.40am, Marshall Security emergency dispatch centre received a call from a client on Wimbledon Place in the Durban North area who informed them that there were suspects in the neighbouring vacant premises.
He said that multiple armed-response officers were immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene within minutes.
“As our armed-response officers entered the property, two suspects were spotted and immediately started to flee on foot. One suspect was apprehended whilst the second suspect, unfortunately, managed to evade arrest,” Powell said.
He said Durban North SAPS were informed accordingly and arrived at the scene a short while later.
“Unfortunately due to the vacant house being severely stripped and damaged already from previous house break-ins, and with homeowners no longer residing in the area, the suspect was warned and released,” Powell said.
