Cape Town - The West Coast National Park (WCNP) flower season is officially in bloom, the SANParks said, announcing that while a late bloom was expected, it would be nothing less than spectacular.
“We are excited about this year’s flower season. Although we had a substantial decrease in rainfall during the winter season, the flowers should be in full bloom within the next two to three weeks,” said Patricia Bopape, WCNP Park Manager.
“During the August and September months, visitors to the park will see a wide variety of flowers on display, from daisies, to bulbs etc. Large areas of flowers can also be seen in the Seeberg\Mooimaak section of the park.”
Visitors should select sunny days to visit the park.
SANParks recommended visiting on a weekday if possible, as weekends were usually very busy.
Conservation fees for August and September are:
- SA adult (with ID) – R100 per person
- SA child younger than 12 years – R50 per person
- SADC National adult (with passport) – R150 per person
- SADC National child – R75 per person

- Adult – R220 per person
- Child – R110 per person
The Geelbek Restaurants will also be opened for lunch during this time.
