BRIDGES for Music will feature German DJ and electronic music producer Loco Dice on his first visit here next month. Loco Dice’s tour forms part of a fundraising initiative for educational projects such as its music and multimedia school in Langa and various scholarship programmes that have helped underprivileged artists to perform on global stages like Tomorrowland and Glastonbury.
Some of Loco Dice tracks, such as El Gallo Negro, are hits on the local house scene, and the tour will allow Dice to connect with his African audience.
The tour will consist of a debut set at the Cape Town Electronic Music Festival(CTEMF)on February 6 at The City Hall, as well as a workshop on February 6 from 3pm to 6pm in Gugulethu.
The workshop aims to create a cultural exchange between an international artist and local producers. It hopes to inspire community youth. To book a seat, e-mail workshops@bridgesformusic.org or reach out via Bridges for Music's website.
Any budding performers who want to appear at the show must send a letter of motivation and Soundcloud link of their music to connect@bridgesformusic.org
Bridges for Music has been raising money to build a music and multimedia school in Langa with the goal of empowering through music.
The non-profit organisation’s main goal this year is to ensure the music school is sustainable over the next three years by securing additional funding. The school aims to become a creative hub where young, talented individuals are able to pursue their dreams and develop skills through a shared passion for music.
Through various fundraising initiatives BFM has already raised over R2-million, which will cover the initial build of the school.
