Cape Town - South African music legend, Vicky Sampson, will join as a special guest in the upcoming comedy production, Joe Barber.
The beloved singer is known for her chart-topping hits African Dream and Love Will Shine on You, and will join comedic duo David Isaacs and Oscar Petersen, for a limited run of unforgettable performances.
The hilarious Joe Barber 25th Anniversary Extravaganza takes place at the Grand Arena in GrandWest from October 16-19.
Joe Barber has captured the hearts of audiences with its heart-warming and hilarious portrayal of life in a local barbershop.
The anniversary celebration promises to be a special tribute to the enduring legacy of the iconic production.
Sampson said: “I am beyond thrilled to be part of this incredible celebration. Joe Barber is a true testament to the heart and humour of Cape Town and I can’t wait to share the stage with David and Oscar as they bring these iconic characters to life. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience for everyone.”
Sampson, who was born and raised in District Six with her roots in Cape Town, will grace the stage alongside the hilarious cast of characters that have made Joe Barber a beloved staple of South African culture – Washiela, Outjie, Boeta Joe and Boeta Gamat.
Producer, Ian Bredenkamp, said: “We’re so excited at having Vicky join the show. A music guest has become a hallmark of our Joe Barber shows at GrandWest since we started there in 2019. Like Boeta Joe and Boeta Gamat, Vicky is known and loved in Cape Town and we can’t wait to hear her perform.”
About their 25-year milestone, Petersen, who plays Boeta Joe, said: “A silver anniversary, like any other anniversary, always allows you to go back to the beginning when the relationship started so you can measure how far you’ve come, the highs and lows.
“Silver represents 25 years and it symbolises the great amount of time that lies behind you and how precious time is. It allows you to celebrate a measure of survival through the challenging moments of life.”
Joe Barber also makes history by being the top-selling show in the Grand Arena.
Their 2022 concerts sold out all 6 nights and broke all attendance records at the venue.
Tickets are now available via Ticketmaster and prices range from R195 to R395.
