Cape Town - With now less than 20 days to go before the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, organisers of the cricket tournament will be hosting an interactive afternoon of beach cricket at Camps Bay beach this Saturday.

Avid cricket supporters and cricket-curious Capetonians are being called on to join an afternoon of beach cricket on Camps Bay beach this weekend, January 21, 2023, ahead of the T20 World Cup extravaganza.

According to organisers, spectators will be treated to a fun and exciting afternoon beach cricket match in the company of popular celebrity personalities, including Anele Mdoda, Nadia Jaftha, Siv Ngesi and musicians Holly Rey and Rouge.

For the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup, the South African Proteas will be hosting the eighth edition of the tournament, and some of the greatest national cricket teams such as England, Sri Lanka, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Ireland, and defending champions, Australia.

A spokesperson for the afternoon of beach cricket event said the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 had chosen to celebrate this iconic milestone with an afternoon of beach cricket, as excitement in South Africa and across the globe continues to build the closer one of the most significant cricket events in women’s sports gets.

He said: “A friendly match situated in the hub of Cape Town, for cricket fans and beyond, it is set to be an afternoon filled with summer vibes, entertainment and surprise guests.

“Fans are encouraged to #TurnItUp in support of the event and their favourite teams and players, who will be in action in 23 matches over 15 days.”

The afternoon of beach cricket at Camps Bay Beach will take place between 3 pm and 7 pm.

Commenting on the buzzing excitement over the Women’s T20 World Cup TV and radio presenter, Anele Mdoda said she was very excited and could believe that there South Africa and the world now have less than 20 days remaining until an epic Women’s T20 World Cup.

She said: “I can’t wait to get down and dirty in the sand and show off my cricket skills this weekend and I hope to see cricket fans and beyond coming through to turn it up.”

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup matches will be played across three venues, Newlands, Boland Park and St George’s Park.
