This is an appeal to our safety and security authorities namely JP Smith and also our Premier Alan Winde.

We out here in Mitchells Plain are at our wits end trying to come to terms with the constant violent protests taking place on Jakes Gerwel opposite Highlands Drive. I am referring to the Siqalo informal settlement which has gained permanence in our neck of the woods.

On a regular basis our lives and livelihood are disrupted by violent protests that has now become unacceptable to us as law-abiding and rates and rent-paying residents. We urgently need and we demand that we as working families now call for the authorities to come to our assistance with a permanent solution.

We feel like we have been placed out here in Neverland and have to beg for a decent life as if we have to pay for it more than what we already are.

JP Smith and Premier Allan Winde please come to our assistance with more than just a calming word of assurance. Please come to our area, sit with us and meaningfully assure us of a permanent and lasting solution. We need protection to and from work daily and we need assurance that our kids are safe to travel to and from their destinations daily.

This is an urgent appeal.

Please help us!
