Cape Town - The SAPS in the Western Cape has announced a R100000 reward for information regarding the murder of an elderly woman in Kraaifontein.
According to the Police Ministry, the monetary incentive is to encourage the public to report useful information, including the whereabouts of Siyabonga Kholakele, 29, and Yanele Mangweni, 32, believed to be involved in the shocking murder carried out last month.
Recounting the incident, police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie said that on Tuesday, August 20, at about 7.30pm, police officials received a call about a shooting in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein.
“On arrival, officers discovered that a 64-year-old woman had been shot and fatally wounded on the corner of Maroela and Ntongabini streets in Wallacedene.”
Pojie said preliminary information gathered revealed that two suspects, believed to be Kholakele and Mangweni, had approached the elderly woman under the guise of purchasing meat from her.
“They allegedly followed the victim into her shack where she was shot in the head.
“The suspects immediately fled the scene on foot and have since evaded arrest.
“Tracking and tracing operations are part of the initiatives taken by police to trace the suspects.”
“In addition to ongoing investigations, the SAPS is offering a reward of up to R100000 for information that might lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of the suspects.
"We appeal to anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS mobile application,” Pojie said.
