Cartoons For Change, a "disorganisation" inviting editorial cartoonists, artists and illustrators to join the fight against child labour and slavery, is planning a protest against the World Economic Forum meeting which kicks off in Davos, Switzerland, on January 20.
Fernando Morales-de la Cruz founder and Editor-in-Chief of Cartoons for Change calls this informal collective a “disorganisation” because, “every cartoonist, artist, illustrator or animator who participates in Cartoons For Change initiatives has the absolute freedom to defend the rights of children and to demand #ZeroChildLabor and #ZeroSlavery in the way he or she sees fit”.
The protest is being planned because "there is misery, hunger, infant malnutrition, child labor and even slavery in the supply chains of hundreds of corporate members of the #WEF, the world's most powerful and influential business organisation".
Morales-de la Cruz says WEF claims to have been "improving the state of the world for 54 years, but more than 75 million poor children are working today to reduce costs and increase profits for the 1,000 corporate members of the #Davos forum".
"All these girls and all these boys have a right to education," Morales-de la Cruz said.
