According to Reuters, the issue may lie with global cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike as there is a widespread IT outage impacting several Australian media, banks and telecommunications companies.

Australia’s National Cyber Security Coordinator Michelle McGuinness said on X that a large-scale technical outage is affecting a number of companies and services across Australia.

“Our current information is this outage relates to a technical issue with a third-party software platform employed by affected companies. There is no information to suggest it is a cybersecurity incident. We continue to engage across key stakeholders,” she added.

Microsoft users

Microsoft users were also unable to access several Microsoft 365 applications and services on Friday.

Also, a Microsoft cloud services outage grounded a number of planes in the United States.

"We're investigating an issue impacting users' ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services," the company said.
